Step-by-Step Process to Apply Passport Online

Step 1:Register on the Passport Seva Online Portal

Visit the Indian official Passport Seva website: https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/.
Click on “New User? Register Now” and create a new account.

Step 2:Login to the Passport Seva Online Portal

Register and create a User ID. (Click on β€œRegister” link under the Online Application Filling section on the Home Page). After successful registration, login to the Passport Seva Online Portal using your registered login ID and password.

Step 3:Apply for Passport

Click on the “Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue of Passport” link. Fill in the required details in the online application form by entering User ID into the Passport Seva Portal.

Step 4:Choose the Passport Type

Select the type of passport you are applying for – Fresh Passport or Reissue.

Step 5:Fill in Personal Details

Enter your personal details, including your name, date of birth, place of birth, and other relevant information.

Step 6:Enter Family Details

Fill in details about your family members.

Step 7:Provide Present and Permanent Address

Enter your present and permanent address details.

Step 8:Select Passport Office

Choose the Passport Office where you wish to submit your application.

Step 9:Pay the Application Fee

Pay the applicable fee online. The fee varies based on the type of passport and the number of pages.

Step 10:Schedule an Appointment

After successful payment, schedule an appointment at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or the Passport Office. On the Applicant Home page, click the “Manage Appointment” link to schedule an appointment at a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).

Step 11:Visit Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)

On the scheduled date and time, visit the selected PSK with all the required documents.

Step 12:Biometric Enrollment

At the PSK, your biometric information (photograph, fingerprints) will be captured.

Step 13:Document Verification

Submit all the required documents for verification.

Step 14:Interview (if necessary)

Some applications may require an interview with a Passport Officer. Be prepared to answer any questions regarding your application.

Step 15:Collect Acknowledgment Receipt

After completing all the processes, collect the acknowledgment receipt.

Step 16:Track Application Status

You can track the status of your passport application online.

Step 17:Receive Passport

Once the application is processed, you will receive your passport at the address provided during the application process.
