ବାଲୁକା କଳାର ଏକ ନାମ ସୁଦର୍ଶନ ପଟ୍ଟନାୟକ। ବିଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ବାଲୁକା ଶିଳ୍ପୀ ଭାବେ ସେ ବାଲିକୁ ମାଧ୍ୟମ କରି ଅସଙ୍ଖ୍ୟ ମାଷ୍ଟରପିସ୍ ତିଆରି କରିଛନ୍ତି। ତାଙ୍କର କଳା ତାଙ୍କୁ ଖ୍ୟାତି, ସ୍ୱୀକୃତି, ପୁରସ୍କାର ଆଣିଦେଇଥିଲା, କିନ୍ତୁ ସବୁଠାରୁ ବଡ଼ କଥା ହେଲା ଏହା ସାରା ଦୁନିଆର ଲୋକଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଆନନ୍ଦ ଓ ପ୍ରେରଣା ଆଣିଦେଇଥିଲା।
1977 ମସିହାରେ ଭାରତର ଓଡ଼ିଶା ରାଜ୍ୟରେ ଜନ୍ମଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିବା ଶ୍ରୀ ପଟ୍ଟନାୟକ ଛୋଟ ବେଳୁ କଳା ପ୍ରତି ଆଗ୍ରହୀ ଥିଲେ। ସେ କିଶୋର ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ ବାଲୁକା କଳାର ଅଭ୍ୟାସ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିଥିଲେ, ଯିଏକି ତାଙ୍କ ସ୍କୁଲକୁ ଆସିଥିବା ଜଣେ ଭ୍ରମଣକାରୀ ବାଲୁକା ଶିଳ୍ପୀଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଅନୁପ୍ରାଣିତ ହୋଇଥିଲେ। ବର୍ଷ ବର୍ଷ ଧରି ଅଭ୍ୟାସ କରି, ବିଭିନ୍ନ କୌଶଳ ଓ ଶୈଳୀରେ ପରୀକ୍ଷା ନିରୀକ୍ଷା କରି ସେ ନିଜର ଦକ୍ଷତା ପ୍ରତିପାଦନ କରିଥିଲେ।
ବାଲୁକା କଳାକୁ ମାଧ୍ୟମ ଭାବେ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରିବାରେ ପଟ୍ଟନାୟକଙ୍କ କଳା ଅନନ୍ୟ। କେବଳ ବାଲି ଓ ପାଣିକୁ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରି ହାତରେ ତିଆରି କରୁଛନ୍ତି ନିଜର ମାଷ୍ଟରପିସ୍। ସେ ବାଲିକୁ ଜଟିଳ ନକ୍ସା ଏବଂ ନମୁନାରେ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ କରନ୍ତି, ଜୀବଜନ୍ତୁଠାରୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରି ଧାର୍ମିକ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିତ୍ୱ ଏବଂ ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ସ୍ଥାନ ପର୍ୟ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସବୁକିଛିକୁ ଜୀବନ୍ତ କରିଦିଅନ୍ତି।
